We will never use this site again under the present owners.

We booked this site in march this year for our annual halloween meet,15 units on hardstandings and with hook up,the booking was confirmed a few times with the owners, but upon arrival we were then told that we hadn't booked hardstandings! and that we had to use the grass area without hook up!

We usually book this site twice a year because of the hardstandings, hook ups and the time of year.

This site has new owners and is very badly run ,certainly a site to avoid, its a waste of time booking as when you arrive there is no guarantee your booking will be honoured.

This site has certainly lost a lot of buisness and a great deal of money,we would normally book this site in february when most sites would be welcome of the income from 15 units and around 45 people drinking and eating in their pub.

Holmston Hall - Cheshire

A number of changes have taken place since our last visit.
The site is in the heart of Cheshire countryside, close shops if you need them, just a short drive to say Tarporly where they have fuel, late night CooP and also a takeaway, bars and food.

The camping is sort of split up into a number of areas.

The Camping and Caravan pitches are very close to the entrance, these are hard standing, and back onto a quite country lane. I would guess several pitches all with EHU. A very nice part of the site, but BE WARNED if you do not have your own sanitation, it is a long walk to the facilities!!

Next to this area is the main rally field, this is very large, but get up closer and you will find 6 EHU for that smaller meet if required, and a bonus is these are not to far from the main facilities

There is also a Caravan (exclusive) area on hard standing, very pretty spot, and close to the fishing ponds.

Next up is the area near to the “Moat” this is a grassy area, and when we last stayed was just grass pitches, but this is now split into individual areas, I think maybe a dozen all with EHU and even individual water supply. I understand these changes to place in 2011

On our visit due to very bad rain, the rally field and also the main area had, had to cancel a rally, due to the ground being to wet.

We were allowed on, and got set up with no problem, and did manage to tow off our Dandy, again with no major issue
The site has lots of walks, and woodland, and for any one , and it does not matter what skill level! But any one that enjoys fishing are going to have what I can only describe as an amazing time.

I spent a couple of days fishing the “Woodlands” pool, and this was over better than I could have ever have imagined.

The facilities are limited, shower, loos, washing up area, but they are spotless and get a big thumbs up.

The site owners are lovely, but they have a zero tolerance for noise! If you are going with children, due to bad behaviour in the past, you may have to go onto the rally field.

This would make an ideal place for more of what I would class as a mini meet for those that enjoy fishing. Day tickets at the time of writing this are £6 for a day and a discount if you fish after 4

There is also an onsite tackle shop selling all sorts of things from bait to Pot Noodles!!

So, the bad points:

The site is very close to Oulton Park, so if there is a race on, you will hear the noise.
If you stay at the Camping and Caravan Club end of the site, you do have a very long walk to the facilities.
I am NOT going to deduct anything for the site being water logged, this has been extreme weather

A discount on fishing, if you are camping should really be done, but no real issue
Our stay in a Dandy was £13 a night with EHU which was good value I would say, but add on fishing cost and it can bump up the price.

I will give Holmston Hall an 8+ out of ten, and am already looking forward to going back!!

see more photos from our stay at this lovely site -->> http://www.facebook.com/media/.....e=1&l=398fd7067a
