Fforest Fields

If you are looking for a camp site like they used to be then Fforest Fields is a must visit. Over my 30 plus years camping I have visited hundreds of camp sites, and I have to say this is number one.

George and Katie the site owners will make your stay fantastic, and they are nice to deal with and very relaxed with nothing being too much trouble.
Here is a slideshow for just some of the photos we have taken and the magical times

The site is quite and in a lovely part of Wales with much to see and do in the area.
A nice bonus is that they allow campfires, and even let you borrow a decent fire pit if you do not have your own.

The facilities had a huge revamp in 2013, and they are amazing, clean, fresh and very environmentally friendly.

They even have little charging points for you mobile phones.

The pitches are all varied and beautiful, with spectacular views over the hills and the forest. If you enjoy a bit of walking you will just fall in love with Fforest Fields.

It’s a level site and also dog and children friendly.

A site plan:

The boating lake is fabulous, and everyone enjoys swimming in the lake, and they even have free use of canoes and life jackets (But a donation for the local air ambulance is welcome)

The site is that extra bit special with the way that many things are done on trust. If the owners are not about, but you say want some milk, bacon or other produce, they have an honesty box for you to use.

Local are a number of fine pubs that do reasonably priced food.
I have to login to the internet several times a day as I run an internet based company, and at Fforest Fields you get FREE WIFI, this is a high priority. One thing that really gets a thumbs down is sites that charge for WIFI, so a huge thumbs up to Fforest Fields for the service they give.

Find out more @ http://fforestfields.co.uk/

Sat Nav user NOTE:
For GPS locators please put these co-ordinates in:
Either N 52.17121° and W 03.31621° or N 52° 10' 27.7" and W 3° 18'98.3"
Please do not put our postcode in, as this is centred on a farm, with a tiny yard for turning in, up a small 'B' road!

George & Katie Barstow

Address
• Fforest Fields Caravan & Camping Park
Fforest Farm
Hundred House
• Builth Wells
• Powys
• LD1 5RT
• Wales, UK
Contact
• 01982 570406
• http://fforestfields.co.uk

Look at what other say

I went to this Park earlier this year with the CSMA on a camping rally.

Site is really clean, modern and very friendly. Whilst there the annual Abergavenny Steam Rally was on and this made an ideal location for camping.

I would reccomend this site. Please visit their website for full details.

Meet/Rally fees for 2011 were £13 PUN including electric (credit is placed on each meter prior to camping and where necessary is topped up FOC)

http://www.blossompark.co.uk/index.html

Regards
Ian

Wern Isaf Farm, Llangollen

We booked this site for three nights after the end of May bank holiday (half term) as after ringing round a few it was the only site with spare pitches, however we enjoyed it so much that we booked an extra night.

Wern Isaf is a working farm half way up the valley side on the outskirts of Llangollen, just bellow the hill top ruin of Castle Dinas Bran. In fact if you stay on the site I would recommend a walk up to the ruin, the views are fantastic. The views from the site are quite beautiful too. Sadly Llangollen is a town I have previously just travelled through on the way to somewhere else, but as I discovered during this visit, the area has much to offer.

Anyway, back to the site, the main camping field (for there is a separate area for touring caravans and a few statics) slopes quite steeply towards one corner and only the area immediately near to the entrance is anything like flat. However this is also the area with EHU so would more than likely be the area you would want to pitch a Dandy in any case; the grass is in superb condition with no muddy patches.

Facilities are kept reasonably clean and are sufficient, but I could not honestly describe them as first class or spotless (we were happy enough with things though). They are centred around the farm yard with male and female toilets and separate showers (2 male and 2 female, cost 20p) and an Elsan disposal point. At the rear of the toilet block there are two pot wash sinks under a canopy, the water was always very hot.

The web site http://www.wernisaf.co.uk/index.html claims that there is a small children's play area, well to be honest that really is stretching the truth there is a small wooden log bridge in a corner but that's about all. However the field is so big that there is plenty of room for kids to run around and play. Yes this is very much a family site and the kids loved the horses and other animals, especially the new calf that the owner bought at market whilst we were there.

The cost for two adults and two children with EHU was £20 per night and we will definitely be adding it to our list of sites to go back to.
